resolv.conf questions

I would ask though why the screenshot insteead of just inserting the
text- that is probably easier to do and read :)

I think there are comment somewhere that you can replcae that( IIRC 
a symbolic link,

 ls -al /etc/resolv.conf
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 29 Apr 10 20:21 /etc/resolv.conf -> ../run/resolvconf/resolv.conf
marchywka at happy:/home/documents/latex/proj/notebook2$ cat  /etc/resolv.conf
# Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8)
#     DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN
nameserver 127.0.1.1

}
with an actual file although I don't when that would get clobbered.
If having problems, I usually just put in a manual "nameserver 8.8.8.8"
which I found on google.
