I have a computer with MS Win10, upon which, I installed UbuntuMATE
18.04, to dual boot.
I did not encrypt the UbuntuMATE partitions.
I first shrunk the Windows partition, leaving the rest of the HDD unallocated.
Then, I installed UbuntuMATE 18.04, into the unallocated part of the
HDD, creating several data and other partitions.
The installation of UbuntuMATE, from memory, proceeded okay, with the
UEFI and GPT.
Beyong those dretails, I do not remember much of the UbuntuMATE
installation process, as it was a while ago.
