Hi,

there's nothing wrong with editing source.list, if you know what you
are doing, but it's probably more user friendly to use command line as
described by the Ubuntu help at

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu#Adding_a_PPA_using_the_command-line.

I guess it will add the repository to /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ and
unlikely will add...

We don't know how your sources.list does look like and we don't know
the exact wording of an output from an apt command we don't know.

Consider first to tidy up your probably broken source.list and
after that to follow the Ubuntu help, if you shouldn't have done this
already.

If you can't restore sources.list from a backup, you could try using
something such as https://repogen.simplylinux.ch/.

If you still experience an issue, than consider to post your
source.list/s. Assuming it should be not much output you could paste it
without wrapping the lines to an email, or attach it. If it's long post
it somewhere else (to some of the paste websites) and provide a link.

Also post the complete command you run in English and it's output and
please don't wrap the lines of command line output.

$ sudo LANG=C apt foo
lorem ipsum blah blah blah

Last but not least, did you fetch the needed keys?

If not, than you should start with running

$ sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys FINGERPRINT

You probably don't need to fetch the key/s manually, when using

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:user/ppa-name
