App version & installed?

Well you never know what may happen if you remove a dir/folder

I do now have most of the apps work
show up on apt-cache policy and
which shows them in usr/bin (after I cleared out the same files from 
usr/local/bin)

there are a few files/dirs below /usr/local/ can they also go?
