Thanks so much for replying!  Unfortunately, while I know Linux pretty 
darned well, your environment had significant differences from what I 
use, so I didn't feel informed-enough to comment.  I'm really glad you 
found the answer... if not the solution.  Good luck, and thanks for 
taking the time to inform us when you found out the root cause!
