Touchpad disabled after suspend

OS - Ubuntu 18.04
Desktop Environment - GNOME

My computer -

Touchpad - Synaptics

My touchpad gets disabled when I wake my laptop from suspend. It is no
longer detected in xinput.

suggested by users in the IRC channel #ubuntu, but found no solution.
