Hello Ralf
I used your commands to add to group lp and lpadmin, then logged out and in
again and did sudo hp-setup.
This was the result:
chas at Charles-PC:~$ sudo hp-setup
[sudo] password for chas:

Then did hp-setup without sudo and added a printer for the third time.
This resulted:
chas at Charles-PC:~$ hp-setup

Searching... (bus=usb, search=(None), desc=0)
Done.
chas at Charles-PC:~$
I also did Device / Printer settings, selected the hp/cups 3.18.9 ppd,
installed it.
I tried to print 2 pages but job was stopped; no output.
Checked this printer Properties and found Status "Idle - Filter failed"
So I do not know what else to try.
