I note that

1. I have had an off-list reply, indicating that someone else had the
same problem, and decided to implement the update anyway, resulting in
lots of breakages, and

2, MeTV now also no longer works.

So, with the last reboot having implemented all of a previous set of
updates, the previous set of updates has apparently caused harm.
