Software updater hangs after about 80%

Hi
Thanks for responding. I should have mentioned I'm using 18.04 on a 64
bit machine. Presumably i386 is irrelevant ??

It's been stuck at that point for well over an hour ....

Should I just reboot? Or is there something else crucial that the
update needs to do after this?  I guess if not then a reboot is the
best option ??
