Joel,
Thank you for the information. This certainly helped me understand it better. I'll look into Devuan.

Subject: Re: Dbus daemon Issues
Hi Jeff,
I'm writing off list.
Your problems are with the Freedesktop.org desktop
environment stack, which now relies heavily on
systemd and dbus.
In case you're unfamiliar, systemd is basically an end-run
around the security model and security practices of unixlike
operating systems. It is a new, heavyweight model for
managing OS resources. It introduces a new framework, based
on dbus, for managing processes and being a comprehensive
replacement for many classical unix utilities, is in an
ongoing process of shaking problems.
The systemd developers have a reputation for closing bug
reports with "wontfix" status. Still, the team does manage
to solve many problems. You may get help on a specialized
list.
It may also be would considering alternatives to
freedesktop.org.
LTSP predates systemd and dbus and is not dependent on them.
The Devuan operating system (http://devuan.org) is essentially

Devuan GNU+Linux Free Operating System - Welcome to devuan.org<http://devuan.org/>
devuan.org
Free GNU+Linux base OS. Devuan is a fork of Debian without systemd. Devuan Jessie provides a safe upgrade path from Debian, to ensure the right to Init Freedom and ...
Debian without systemd, and may be worth investigating.
Devuan does support dbus, so that allows many window managers
and desktop software to use dbus for notifications,
etc.

As in the past, I added the following to the /etc/init/dbus.conf file, limit nofile 65334 65334, right above the expect fork line. Even with that in the dbus.conf, I have been having issues when a large number of users\sessions are logged in causing the dbus-daemon to spike the CPU to 100% and stop responding to calls. This then prevents any new users from logging in successfully. Have any of you experienced this issue as well? Is there another file(s) in 16.04 that need to be edited? I've google searched multiple times and went multiple pages in the results without any luck. Any advice or insight is appreciated.
