To be clear: I don't object to any of this.  You do you, and in very
many environments this approach is entirely appropriate.  But if you
claim that something flat-out doesn't work when it does - even if there
are caveats - then I'll still point out the error.

Put another way: there is a difference between "here is our recommended
configuration; if you deviate from this then you're on your own" and
"other configurations will not work", and clear technical writing
distinguishes between the two.
