To log in as root you just have to set a password for the "root"
account. To do this, first become root using "sudo -i bash", then run
"passwd". After that, you will be able to log in as root.
I have not actually tried this myself with the greeters, so YMMV. I
know it works at the shell level, but the greeters may have some
special anti-root provisions :-)
Running with a root passwords is generally considered bad practice, but
for a local virtual it's fine.
