Snap tutorial crashed my repositories

you already have it installed ... 

try:

snap version

..in a terminal, it should show you the version in use (also note that
it isnt *that* important to keep the deb of snapd updated since it
updates itself from the core snap once this is installed (core gets
installed alongside the very first snap you will install)).
