while this is true, try to imagine how many scripts are out there using
apt-get (almost every docker setup script uses it for example)...
the apt manpage also has a section reading:
"All features of apt(8) are available in dedicated APT tools like apt-
get(8) and apt-cache(8) as well. apt(8) just changes the default value
of some options (see apt.conf(5) and specifically the Binary scope). So
you should prefer using these commands (potentially with some
additional options enabled) in your scripts as they keep backward
compatibility as much as possible."
so while you should really use the new tool/config to benefit from new
features and setup, i suppose it will still take a long time until apt-
get itself goes away ...
