Does your distro have a security team? If so, they much likely know
better than a user like you does. Remember, your claim was that staying
with an outdated version of Firefox should be more secure, than
upgrading to the latest version. You called an automatic security
upgrade mechanism a trojan, just because you don't have the skills to
customize your distro of choice.

Do yourself a favour, don't try to be smarter than the Ubuntu security
team. Don't customize your Ubuntu Mate, unless you know what you are
doing. Yes, a reboot could be required after an enforced security
upgrade (not only after a kernel upgrade), for a release model distro as
Ubuntu less seldom, than for a rolling release.

That computer users like you are subscribed to CERT advisories gains you
nothing, since users as you don't have the skills to do the required
steps yourself.
