I am sorry - I do not see the difference between what you sought, and
what I entered.

"
I'm interested to see the output of

  grep unattended-upgrades /var/log/dpkg.log | grep \ installed
"

"
For Ralf Mardorf (whose message has not come through on this system):

"
:~$ grep unattended-upgrades /var/log/dpkg.log | grep \installed
2017-10-17 04:57:52 status half-installed unattended-upgrades:all 0.90ubuntu0.2
2017-10-17 04:57:53 status half-installed unattended-upgrades:all 0.90ubuntu0.2
2017-10-17 04:57:57 status installed unattended-upgrades:all 0.90ubuntu0.8
"

Okay - I think that I may have worked it out - was there supposed to
be a blank space between the "\" and the "installed"?

It is (and was) not clear.

I was reading your message on one computer, in a GUI, and, entering
what I was reading, at a command line.
