I am also not trying to discourage you.

I think a solution using "reuse" parameter would be a real boon to 
Ubuntu.

Maybe even something like "save=" to store the password into a temporary 
file that can then be used by other crypttab lines.

Unfortunately the whole non-systemd-cryptroot system seems to be a thing 
that is getting phased out.

But I think it would be much better if it was kept.

Or rather, if it was put in there. It would be easy to implement I 
think.

The whole cryptroot system already parses /etc/crypttab.

It would be easy to put it in there.
