When you refresh firefox it makes a new profile but should keep the
old one. If you look in ~/.mozilla/firefox the profile folders have
names like <random_string>.default. If you have two of these then one
will be the original. Look at the timestamps on the files in there (or
on the folder) to see which is the old one. Shutdown firefox fully
then copy all the contents of the old one into the new one (maybe a
good idea to make a copy of the new one first). Restart FF and you
should be back where you started.
