Can anyone tell me what is wrong with LibreOffice?

I think there's something wrong with my Ubuntu installation and this has
contaminated LibreOffice. I find that the problem that prompted me to start
this thread is manifest even when I create another user account and log in
as this other user.
When I go back to my account and try to remove LibreOffice, I cannot locate
LibreOffice (or, owing to the fact that nothing at all is displayed in the
"installed software" window pane, anything) in the Ubuntu software manager.
My conclusion here is that something really screwy has happened to my
Ubuntu possibly in recent weeks. I'm going to reinstall Ubuntu and see what
happens...
Owen.
