What happened to the consoles?

I decided to reboot and check. Before I logged in, the consoles work
fine. Afterward as well.
May have been just a glitch in the last reboot. My xscreensaver-demo
also froze before the lasts reboot (before this one) and it's all fine
now.
Ah, well.
