I haven't install them for Ubuntu, but already for Arch Linux.

ne    - no dependencies were needed, that were not already
        installed
      - doesn't show a menu

tilde - requires several dependencies
      - does show a menu, but the handling is annoying
      - it's possible to configure the handling of the menu, but this
        IMO is annoying, too

I removed both editors and stay with nano and just in case I kept
mcedit.
