2 possible ways.

[1] It will isolate if this is some OS-specific problem. There are
machines that just will not play nice with Linux or any non-Windows
OS. I've owned at least one. (It would run FreeBSD fairly well, oddly,
but Linux required major coaxing to run at all, and then badly,
including the very unusual ``acpi=force'' kernel parameter. Haiku,
AROS, BeOS etc. refused to boot at all.)

[2] It will enable you to install any firmware updates and possibly to
check for UEFI settings, disable SecureBoot, stuff like that.
