NAS filesystem that supports hard links

For a year or so I have been using a d-link sharestation NAS in RAID0 for
backups of a ownCloud server. I've been using duplicity but now due to the
size of the backup this is proving unpractical (I have to take ownCloud
offline once a week to do a full backup and it is taking over 8 hours).
I am moving over to a solution that used rsync and hard links but I don't
think I can use this NAS, or indeed any NAS. Originally I used duplicity
as I did not think the NAS supported hard links but it says it does support
MAC TimeMachine so I am thinking maybe it does. Certainly using rsync
with --link-dest to do a TimeMachine type backup it works but this does not
work on the NAS (using NFS). Am wondering if there is a way to get it
working with this NAS, or a alternative make/model? It also supports Samba.
I know there is something you can use on samba servers called Unix
Extension which I think may allow this.
