Getting closer on Server issue

It's hard to tell :-)

When logged in from the LiveCD, can you see the source drive and the
destination drive? If yes, you should be able to use sudo or a root
nautilus to move/copy files.

If, when logged in from the LiveCD, you CANNOT see both the source and
the destination drives, then you have a different problem.

Which problem do you now have?
