Use the virtualbox install a windows virtual machine, and install the driver in windows is my solution and suggestion.

In you browser open <http://localhost:631/>. Then select the 
administration tab where you can add a printer. But maybe that doesn't 
help because IIRC Canon printers aren't well supported with Linux.
