I do hourly incremental backups to another drive on my main desktop
machine (using rsync's --link-dest option) and daily back-ups to an
off-site machine (again using rsync's --link-dest option).  I back up
most of /home (excluding some specific cache and temporary aras) and
/etc.  I have incremental backups for the past couple of years and it
doesn't take much space or time.
