You were not asked to use MIME digest to keep the thread.
You were not asked to not top post.
You were not asked to trim the post.
You were not asked to sent plain text.

The only request is to edit the subject, but even this seems to be too
much.

Pleas, next time at least edit the subject. You don't need to do this,
if you log into your Ubuntu user account and select MIME instead of
plain text digest. After doing this, you could reply to an individual
mail inside the digest. This keeps the thread, provides the original
subject and even without trimming the quoted mail, you only would quote
a single mail, IOW less unnecessary text.

This is _not_ an April fool hoax.
