problems upgrading from 14.04 to 16.04

Ralf,
I always only update using the formal ubuntu repositories.
There is apparently something seriously wrong.
I started software-properties-gtk it wouldn't update the package list 
bit came with this list of errors;

I found a lot of crash- and error-reports at /home/joep/cache/. I would 
like to know where a log of the update, that apparently went wrong, can 
be found. I have of course looked in /var/log but I can not fine where 
it is stored and I would think a version upgrade must be stored somewhere.
T o answer your question: I don't know where that came from as I have 
never used unofficial repositories for uuntu (as I already said).
