Thunderbird question - seems to be solved

Thank you Avi, Karl and Achbarrr,
I was called away shortly after posting my question and while away I
realised how I could solve the problem. The files cannot be dragged from
the old account to the new account but they can be moved from a
right-click menu item. I have about fifteen years of archived e-mails, a
bit more culling is needed, and it is an extremely slow process but it
seems to be working.
