should be called gibibytes and gigabytes called gigabytes, they are two
different things describing two different measurements ... 

this is a bit like saying: "centimeters should not be named cm, they
should be called inches now."

one describes exactly 1000 megabyte, the other describes 1074 megabyte
... they are different units for decimal [1] vs binary [2] measurement,
one is just more fine grained than the other, thats all... and i dont
think there is any rule "what you should use".
