What is the default display manager in Ubuntu

Lightdm is not a window manager. Regarding
http://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/unity a hard dependency of unity, the
default desktop environment, it's compiz.

Regarding http://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/ubuntu-desktop lightdm is
the default display manager.

Summarized, by default

Display manager:     lightdm
Window manager:      compiz
Desktop environment: unity
