Get a free email from www.juno.com  then use pop3 with Evolution or
Kmail.

both will let you do email properly.  I have had some problems with
gmail no longer working with pop3
seems they can only recommend I spend $100 per account to fix the
problem they created so now I forward gmail to juno.
