it would immensely help if you would show us your code, do you have a
git or bzr tree or a set of pastebin links to look at ?
try to compare the environment your editor sees ... i.e. if you call it
from a function, put an env call above it (and perhaps re-direct its
output to a file since the editor will likely try to clear the screen
before starting) ...
did you try a different editor yet to see if it is the tty setting or
the editor itself that is at fault here ?
