Not that I have found...

Wasn't familiar with 'global menus' so checked it out. Seems that
there were/are many top menu problems with 14.04 and 16.04. In one bug
summary section, it was noted that NO gtk top menus work, so that is
consistent with the observed fslint problem. There is supposedly a way
to get gtk menus [*only*] on the top in lubuntu and xbuntu with some
custom installs and tweaks. It was considered to be an easy port to
Gnome too, but no mention of Unity. I am considering that route...
BUT - installing multiple desktops was a disaster for me - not going
to do that again. However, there is an install on the side option,
which I did not do, which, AIUI does a parallel independent install.
Question: is this really *completely* independent - has its own /,
home, etc and no sharing of anything with the parallel install? If so,
I might try that. If not, what do I have to know about to avoid
problems? Do you have to reboot to get to the other install, or can
you switch back and forth?
Much of the data I work with is mounted in /media and I would assume
that either one could access this.
Other ideas or approaches most welcome!
