Taking Karl's hint into account, don't run a command from command line.

There might be either a run dialouge available by a short-cut, from
where running "gksudo LANG=C software-center" can't cause issues or
logging in and out provides to select the language, by hopefully
keeping the keyboard layout. An Unity, default Ubuntu install user
should chime in and explain what to do.
