New laptop - weird key repeat issue

Some of you may remember this from a few weeks ago:

> keys start auto-repeating after a brief,
> configurable delay - but if I hold the key down past that point for
> half a second, it keeps repeating when I let go of the key!

This problem went away of its own accord, and I have been using my new
laptop very happily for two weeks or more. This morning the problem
returned :-(

However there is a little more information. If I choose to edit the
commands in GRUB, the key repeat issue is present in that edit window.
This is long before X is involved, it's before even Linux is involved.

Just throwing that out there in case anyone has any ideas what might be
causing this. It would certainly be nice to know what made it go away.
I guess I will just have to hope it goes away again.

Regards, K.
