screen blank timing

When my laptop resumes from suspend, for a brief moment the screen is
displayed as it was when it was suspended. Then the display is cleared
to nothing but the background image and a password prompt. The period
in between is long enough to get a good impression of what's on the
screen - or to photograph it! About a third or half a second.
It seems to me that the password screen should be displayed first,
before suspending the system, to avoid this.
Do others see the same thing?
My workaround is to flip to a blank workspace before suspending the
system.
Regards, K
