Install an older kernel. I would build a kernel package, but perhaps
you can install a package from Trusty.

You might need the headers, too, assumed dkms needs to build something,
perhaps for a proprietary graphics driver.

Assumed an older kernel doesn't solve the issue, then perhaps a newer
kernel could help.

I would test kernels, before updating the BIOS, resp. read the change
log of the available BIOS updates first.
