I'm still running ubuntu 14.04 on my main workstation as that is the
most stable version (imho).
Now I just acquired the youngest rasoberry incarnation, the Odroid-C2, a
4-core android with the new eMMC-type memory that is - hopefully - less
vulnerable to read/write errors than the micro-SD cards used in the
raspberry.
The nice thing of the Odroid-C2 is that it comes with Ubuntu 16.04
preinstalled on the eMMC-memory (from 8Gb to 64Gb) it is my first
encounter with this new version and very many things are changed.
The most annoying is that the fonts totally different are organized
which makes that vnc doesn't start with the error:
Font directory '/usr/share/fonts/X11/75dpi/' not found - ignoring
Font directory '/usr/share/fonts/X11/100dpi/' not found - ignoring.
The result is that vnc start with a gray screen with nothing on it.
In the directory /usr/share/fonts/X11/ the fonts are totally different
as they are organized in different directories and with different names,
etc.
I have used the vnc that is in the repositories but that doesn't work.
The directories 75dpi and 100dpi have disappeared and apparently vnc is
not adapted to this new situation.
Hopefully somebody has a solution how to change vnc that it can reach
the correct fonts and use it.
Joep
