In the same vein--those in need of a version control system and not
already tied down to a particular one should look at Fossil to see if it
fits their needs.  I mention it because a) it uses SQLite to store
commits, and b) it's by the same author as SQLite, D. Richard Hipp.

In addition to your standard VCS stuff, it also includes a customizeable
bug-tracking system and Wiki.

More info on Fossil at http://www.fossil-scm.org -- for Ubuntu, you'll
need to have universe enabled.
