No idea about this, sorry. I found this that might be useful, booting
on 16.04 should be pretty similar to 14.04 AFAIK.

I'm pretty certain it is, at least it was when I recently used it to
reinstall my desktop. Maybe you need to boot the installer in 'expert'
mode to see that option?
Are you certain the machine booted the installer in UEFI mode?
