How to set the single click speed?

Some menus open with the mouse pointer at a position that provides a
sub-menu, it the mouse switch then multi-clicks no option is selected,
just the menu disappears, can't be opened. That is annoying, but better
then a menu that disappears, but before doing it "undo"s or pasts etc..
