moving hard drive to a new system

For that particular use, you are probably better off getting a NAS - I
reckon the Synology DS514+ is about the best current bang for buck. Put
at least two 3TB disks in it (depends how much you value the data on it)
and you can use it for a whole bunch of things - including as a media
server.
