what makes you think that ... ?  

indeed you can disable all privacy concerning bits in the system
settings with a single click ... (and note that 16.04 unity7 will have
the web search turned off by default ... and unity8 in future releases
simply functions totally different regarding such things)

admittedly things like automated crash reporting (which gets cleaned up
from privacy related data before sending by apport and whoopsie) as
well as the automated web search are on by default, but it takes less
than 5 sec to disable them all after installation if you personally
think your privacy gets violated by them.

(btw i personally prefer that my amazon searches get anonymized and
forecefully pushed through an ssl connection when done via unity (...vs
using a browser where a ton more data about me gets forwarded to
amazon), i find my privacy way more protected through that than by
using a javascript and cookie enabled firefox or chromium))
