My computer doesn't shutdown completely

Thank you Liam,

I think I can say that my problem is fixed. After I send the shutdown
command (either from GUI or command line) it goes through the usual
shutdown process, then shows me the blinking cursor as before, however
after about one second another message quickly appears (so quick that
I never get to read it) and the computer powers off.

Sorry about top-posting, usually I try to respect these rules, but by
default gmail moves my cursor on top.
