Hi,
Reasons,
a) With a low profile system, getting a low profile pci-e express card (in fact low profile anything) can be "fun"
b) flexibility to move it between platforms in a few seconds.
c) cheap.
d) OS agnostic.
e) No need to open the box, no risk of stuffing it with static, no lost warrrantee etc.
I have an external one on the way from dx.com for around $17USD I'll report back on it in the next week or so as its in the post.

A mate has one and yes its not as fast as it should be, (but works with Ubuntu fine), I'll test the speed myself.

Subject: Re: Wifi Dongles
Why use a dongle on a desktop system? Personally, I'd scour the couch cushions to get a PCI-Express Wifi card. It'll work better than a dongle. I just built a new desktop and the D-Link card I have just flies in Windows and Linux (mine's Fedora, but I think that's not particularly relevant).

Hi everyone,
As you may know, I am adding the finishing touches to my desktop computer that I have built. Now I'm looking for a wifi dongle, but I can't seem to find any that definitely work with Ubuntu. I know that the RPi official wifi dongle works, but it is above my price point ($20).
Have any of you found any dongles that work well with Ubuntu?
I'm trying to keep the price under $20.
Any help is appreciated,
Tony
