And then , further down my documentation (as in the documentation I
created for myself by myself some time ago !!) :
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Last but not least, disable the grub update process, since the thin client
will fail updates because of this.
On the thin-client server, go to /var/tftpboot/ubu1204x86diskless/etc/kernel/postinst.d/
and vi zz-update-grub, go to line number 20 (most of the times)
and comment out "exec update-grub", write and quit.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At which point , I think it will be fitting for me to :
a. Hung my head in shame for not consulting my documentation
b. apologize for all the hubbub I created for no reason
c. did I apologize :-)
Naturally somewhere the problem got created in the mean time.
At this point in time, I cannot re-trace my steps.
Hmmm. If only I could put my thoughts in the right place :-)
Anyway, What I am thinking now for one installation (I checked and
the tweaks are applied to both installations) where I have the
grub problem , I am going to "unhalt" the grub packages, let the
system do all the updating it wants, then re-edit the "zz-update-grub"
file (which at the moment does not exist in its respective place, but
this should be logical since i told the system to ignore any grub
related packages, so I suspect the system took away the file)
and change it according to the instructions again.
Then I will see what happens and post my finding to you people.
Also it would be nice to know the "unhalt" command for "apt".
