*Ubuntu 16.04 does not "discover" the printer Samsung ML-1660, though "printer-driver-splix" has been installed.

Hello, I realize you may have reasons for wanting to plug in the
printer to the computer, but on a brief search, it seems that this
printer can be used on a network as well(?) So, I want to mention for
everybody that I have been using the Samsung MLXXX series printers via
a network for over 10 years with great success. Here is a brief
description. I should add that there is a web-based "sync-through"
software available for information and administration after the
printer is installed. Hope this helps.
