Nautilus hangs when accessing CIFS share

I'm having a strange problem trying to access a CIFS share using Nautilus. The share is mounted from an EMC Isilon system. The share mounts without problem and I can access the share from the command line. However, when I try and access it from nautilus, it sits there with a message in the bottom right hand corner saying 'Loading'.

I'm running Ubuntu 16.10 which has Nautilus 3.20.3.

Curiously, Nemo has the same problem.

Anyone seen this or have any idea where to start looking?
