Thanks for the above information. For quite a while I've been using
Shift-Insert to paste in terminal. It has worked well for copies from
many places, but what I'm finding from a bit of testing is that the
places it works well are copies from KDE programs, of which I use
several. The Ctrl+Shift+V in terminal does seem to work in pasting
from places where the Shift-Insert does not work.
Thanks! That seems to have solved the paste problem in terminal.
